Peter Rabbit and Friends Fabric Creations

I often receive beautiful fabric parcels in the post and it’s such a thrill to open up the packaging and check out the lovely fabric inside. Fabric companies partner with designers like me to help showcase new collections. As a designer, I love to create projects that teach you more about my Molly and Mama style. And I love designing FREE PATTERNS that help to showcase the fabric that we ALL love using.

Today I want to share the Peter Rabbit and Friends Fabric Collection* with you. Brought to you by Riley Blake Designs, this collection features three main pastel colourways; pink, green and blue. There’s eight prints in each colourway and they’re ALL ADORABLE. Huge thanks to distributor Two Green Zebras for sending me this lovely collection!

I especially love the main prints with the character motifs because they are just perfect for showcasing those sweet little faces. One of the first things I did with this fabric was to baste some one inch hexagon papers with those cute characters. Aren’t they sweet?

Free Hexagon Bookmark Pattern

After I had fussy cut those cute little characters into these adorable hexagons, I realised they were perfect to use in my free Hexagon Bookmark Pattern.

The bookmarks were made using a mix of character hexies and flower ones too. I created a pink and a green version and I just love how they turned out. Feel free to fill out your details below so that you can get my free bookmark pattern straight to your inbox.

You can see more hexagon bookmark inspiration at THIS POST. I’ve made lots of different kinds now and they always look so different depending on the fabrics used.

If you’re new to sewing hexagons and would love to learn more, please visit my beginners tutorial that shows you all the steps for glue basting and stitching your hexagons together.

Once you start, you’ll find it so addictive. I can’t stop sewing English paper pieced projects now. This simple bookmark is great project to start with! But here’s another project you might like (and it also has a free pattern).

Free Pentagon Bowl Pattern

I originally created the free pattern for this structural English paper pieced bowl last year. This project is different from normal EPP because the paper shapes are left intact to give the bowl structure and support.

You can download the instructions for this project below and see more inspiring Pentagon Bowl ideas HERE.

These little bowls are ideal for holding Easter eggs – both real and fabric covered. I love stitching up these bowls as they are a great portable project and perfect for sewing on the go.

Free Scrappy Easter Eggs Instructions

Here’s my last inspiring idea for tiny fabric scraps. I loved turning all of these carefully cut fabric bits into adorable fabric covered Easter Eggs. I started with my favourite tiny character motifs, plus some flowers and butterflies. I added some plain background fabric scraps too. Then I found some plain plastic eggs with little hanging loops at the top. You can see them in the photo below.

I decided to make an egg for each of the fabric colourways; blue, green and pink. I used PVA craft glue to attach the scraps, then replaced the gold ties with pretty ribbons and bows on the top. How sweet are they?

They also look wonderful hanging from an Easter tree.

If you’d like to get more information about how I made these, just fill in your details below.

My original Scrappy Eggs were decorated with all of my precious Liberty Tana Lawn scraps. You can see more images over on the blog.

I hope you’ve found some inspiring ideas here today. If you make any of these free projects, be sure to share them with me.
