Pretty Projects for the Flower Market Fabric Tour

It’s always such a thrill when new fabrics arrive at the studio door. And it’s even more thrilling when you unpack the collection and realise that it’s even more beautiful in person than any photo could convey. This is exactly the reaction I had when I opened the fat quarter bundle of Flower Market by Elea Lutz for Poppie Cotton.

As a fabric ambassador for Poppie Cotton, I’m thrilled to select new release fabrics to sew pretty projects. Because I mostly sew small projects, I usually like to make at least a couple of things to really showcase the different colours and motifs in a collection. This one is all about roses and beautiful floral elements like forget me nots and daisies. The motifs come in a range of sizes, and in a stunning combination of bright reds, navy blues and yellows and more subdued pinks, pale greens and blues. I was especially drawn to the large rose sprays on the main print.

Today I’m sharing three different makes for you, all using Flower Market which starts shipping to stores in September 2025. The first is a pin cushion and scissor charm made using my Serious Sewist’s Set pattern. The other two are created using free designs from my collection. Read on to learn more about the designs and how you can make them too.

Also, the pin cushion, scissor charm and bookmark all showcase the Country Confetti basics print in Marshmallow New White (also from Poppie Cotton). There’s a great range of basics on the Poppie Cotton website that complement their collections really well.

The Serious Sewist’s Set

My seriously sized pin cushion design comes with an English paper pieced top with a sweet felt bee appliquéd in the centre. I knew that this pattern would be perfect for all the sweet florals in the Flower Market Collection. So I chose to showcase the pink and green prints as they are my favourites. And I’m thrilled with the way the pin cushion and matching scissor charm turned out.

Aren’t they lovely? If you’d like to make this project, it’s great for confident beginners and I have lots of helpful tutorials on the blog to assist with the English paper piecing and working with wool felt for the bee appliqué. You can buy the PDF pattern in my store.

The FREE Sweet Home Stitch Kit

This free little design is brand new to Molly and Mama and I love it because it’s a very simple, low-sew project that is perfect for beginners. Attach fabric to the cardboard template and cut it out to create a foldable stitch kit that contains a felt page for needles and pins (and some spare buttons), a thread card for keeping threads for mending, and a small pocket to tuck your snips into. This portable Sweet Home Stitch Kit is ideal for keeping in your bag, your travel pack or the car.

You can get the FREE pattern emailed to you directly when you add your details here.

The Flower Market versions I created each show off a different fabric print for the covers, with matching prints for the thread cards. I’m saving these for when I need a quick ‘swap’ gift for a quilty friend.

The FREE Hexagon Bookmark

This bookmark highlights five of my favourite floral motifs from the the collection. So pretty!

I’ve made so many of these darling Hexagon Bookmarks from my FREE pattern now. And every one looks different depending on the fabrics that are used. This project is a wonderful introduction to English paper piecing and ideal for beginners. You can download the free pattern by entering your details in the form below.

Ask for this collection at your favourite fabric retailer, or check the stockists list on the Poppie Cotton website.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my latest makes and that they’ve inspired you to start sewing with this stunning collection!
