A Christmas Version of the Tilly’s Tea Party Table Runner
The Tilly’s Tea Party Table Runner has been one of my post popular patterns yet! It seems that everyone loves the original design, sewn with sweet embroidered hexagons and English paper pieced blocks stitched in lovely delicate fabrics. You can read more about the design and see close up photos HERE.
When I recently received this beautiful bundle of Christmas fabrics from Riley Blake Designs, I knew straight away that I’d also love to make a festive version of the table runner.
Above are some of my favourite prints selected from the Adel in Winter Collection designed by Sandy Gervais for Riley Blake Designs (you can ask for the entire collection at your favourite retailer). I wrote all about this collection and the Christmas runner over on the Riley Blake Blog, so pop over and have a read.
I love the mix of colours, prints and patterns in this collection. It looks lovely and festive, without being overly Christmassy! How wonderful do these Winter motifs look in these English paper pieced blocks below?
The snowflakes, pine sprigs, poinsettias and berries in this collection made it ideal for this project.
I loved photographing the completed runner with my favourite snowflake flowers straight from my Winter garden. They’ve always been one of my favourites.
The holly in my garden was also perfect for photographic styling. Look at those cute red berries!
Although this runner doesn’t have the embroidered centre hexagons like the original does, I love that I could fussy cut the poinsettias from the main print. They create a great focal point for each block of the runner.
I also made a Valentine’s Day version of this pattern too. You can read more on the blog.
If you make your own, be sure to share it on socials using the hashtags #TillysTeaPartyTableRunner and #MollyandMama so everyone can enjoy your sewing!
Happy stitching, Lauren x
