Gentle Stitcher’s Companion

Welcome to the Gentle Stitcher’s Companion!

A little place to slow down, stitch with intention and find joy in the simple things.

Created by Lauren from Molly and Mama and Miss Leela from The Maker’s Stash, the Gentle Stitcher’s Companion is a limited release, digital magazine celebrating slow stitching, creativity, friendship and the things that make a maker’s heart happy. Inside this one-time offer, you’ll find beautiful projects to stitch, thoughtful stories and interviews, creative inspiration, gentle encouragement, and a little dose of garden, flowers, tea, books and vintage goodness.

Leela and I wanted to bring you more than just a collection of projects to sew. We’d like to think of the companion as an invitation to make time for creativity, embrace the joy of hand stitching and savour the gentle rituals that surround it.

And it’s launching very soon…

A little peek inside…

The Gentle Stitcher’s Companion has been created for those who find joy in the quiet rhythm of making. Within its pages you’ll discover sweet projects to make, stories to savour, creative women to meet, and plenty of inspiration for bringing a little more handmade joy into everyday life.

Here’s just a little taste of what awaits inside…

Slow Stitching Projects

There’s something special about a project made one little stitch at a time. Inside the Companion you’ll find a collection of gentle stitching projects designed to be enjoyed slowly, with scraps from your stash, a cup of tea beside you and no need to hurry. From English Paper Piecing to embroidery and slow stitched cloth techniques, these are projects to personalise and make entirely your own.

‘Pantry Petals’ Jam Jar Bonnets designed by Lauren

A little prettiness for your pantry

My ‘Pantry Petals’ Jam Jar Bonnets will bring a little handmade charm to your pantry shelves, transforming simple jars of honey or jam into something wonderfully pretty.

Use recycled vintage linens or your favourite fabric base, then add lace, a bow and an embellished top. I’ll share three different ways to create a perfect hostess gift, or add a touch of hand stitched joy to your storage jars and containers.

Because even everyday things deserve a little sweetness!

Heirloom Hearts designed by Leela

Little pieces of love to stitch and keep

Leela’s Heirloom Hearts are made using the simple, soulful art of Patched & Stitched Cloth.

Gather treasured scraps, snippets of vintage fabric and little pieces of cloth with stories of their own, then stitch them together to create something new.

A gentle project with an heirloom feel, and the perfect place to let your favourite fabrics bloom again.

The Joyful Stitcher’s Companion designed by Leela

A little sewing companion for your stitching basket

Designed with English Paper Piecing, scraps and slow stitching in mind, The Joyful Stitcher’s Companion is a sweet folded sewing case made for keeping your stitching treasures close.

Inside you’ll find pockets for your favourite tools, along with a matching needle book and pincushion.

Simple to sew, lovely to use and perfect for dipping into your scrap basket, this is a project made for the joyful stitcher.

Favourite Things Sampler – a collaborative design

A sampler stitched with friendship

Some projects are about more than the stitches.

Created as a collaboration between Lauren and Leela, the Favourite Things Sampler celebrates the things we both love most; stitching, gardening, flowers, reading, tea and, most importantly, friendship.

Combining English Paper Piecing and embroidery, this little hanging is a celebration of the creative friendship that inspired the Companion itself.
