Spring Sewing Projects

We’ve nearly finished our two week Spring holiday and it’s been a lovely, relaxing break. I’ve had some quiet time to try new projects and get stitching. It’s always nice to take time out for something different.

Ali from Arabesque Scissors sent me her Mini Cathedral Pinnie pattern to try and it was wonderful to sit down this week to give it a go. This sweet little pattern shows you a simple way to sew a cathedral window, and then sew it into a three inch boxed pin cushion. It’s a quick make, the PDF pattern is beautifully laid out and the instructions are easy to follow.

It’s the perfect pattern for showcasing your favourite prints and using up your precious scraps too. I love this little hedgehog! After I stitched this beauty I just had to try another.

And this sweet deer was designed by my lovely friend, Megan. So I was very happy to make it the centre piece for this pinnie! Isn’t she cute?

I want to try the Baby Cathedral Sachet bag too. It looks so cute!

Another quick and easy project that I put together was these Needle Cards designed by Sedef from Down Grapevine Lane, for Amy’s blog ‘Diary of a Quilter‘.

You can access the instructions HERE. I printed the template on light card stock and secured Liberty lawn fabric to the covers using HeatnBond Ultrahold. Each card has different coloured felt pages to match their covers. I used my favourite merino wool felt from My Felt Lady.

I love how they turned out. They’ll make a great little gift for a crafty friend!

Now that the break is coming to an end, I’ll be back in the studio working on the release of three new patterns! I’m also playing with more of the Tilda Old Rose fabric. You can read about it here. And there’s a sweet felt Christmas pattern update too, so stay tuned.

Happy stitching, Lauren x
