Autumn in Molly and Mama Land

It’s been very quiet here in the Molly and Mama studio over the last three months. I’ve not spent much time on social media. And I realised that I haven’t stopped in to update you with what I have been working on. I moved my studio to a smaller room in the house and I still haven’t worked out how to set it up efficiently yet. It’s a work in progress. Do you have any tips for setting up your sewing room? I’d love to hear them.

We’ve had the loveliest Autumn. The turning leaves and the colour in the garden is always inspiring, so my sketchbook has had a good workout and there’s some sweet new ideas tucked away for later! This is my view from my favourite garden chair under the pin oak tree. These leaves are long gone but the show in Autumn was amazing!

There’s not a lot of new designs to share, but I have taught a few fabulous classes over the last few months and they’ve been wonderful! I’ve been at The Quilters Angel in Highfields and Sewing Adventures in Salisbury.

Here’s just a few of the projects we have worked on.

This pincushion was a modified version of the Flower Friends Pincushions in my book, Pretty Handmades* (affiliate link).

Look at all these Susie Sunflower Pincushions that we created during the Felt Masterclass at Sewing Adventures. This is also a project from my book.

The Felt Bunny class was popular before Easter. I can’t wait to make this design into a new pattern!

I challenged some of my regulars at the Mystery Makes class at The Quilters Angel with bullion roses. They were easier than some thought! Others were persistent and the results were wonderful!

And as a bonus, I created this pretty framed embroidery. These could also become new patterns. The sweet frames are available from your local quilting store or via Creative Abundance.

Winter has definitely made itself known in our little corner of South East Queensland! But the cold weather, and time spent inside, has helped me plan a few new patterns and some ideas for future projects. I can’t wait to share them with you over the coming weeks.

Thanks for being here and sharing my sewing journey.

Happy stitching, Lauren.

  1. These are all very pretty. I would love to have a class with you, there is nothing like attending a class for help, inspiration, fun, and also getting things done. x
